Four kinds of fluff

Feather-Soft Faux Fur (#5) gives the deepest pile — plushie bodies, teddy textures, collar trims and pom-poms. Candy Cloud Fuzzy Nylon (#2) is the fine-work fluff: doll hair, fuzzy ears, hair clips and soft accents on small amigurumi. Puffie (#3) sits in between — an airy, marshmallow hand that's still easy to stitch into. Bunny Whispers (#5) adds a color-shifting halo for scarves and accessories.

Tips for crocheting with fluffy yarn

With high-pile yarns you work by feel more than sight: the fluff hides the stitches, so count as you go and drop a stitch marker every 10 stitches (and always in the first stitch of a round). Keep tension relaxed but even, and when a stitch goes missing, trust your fingers — the gaps are easier to feel than to see. A slow gentle brush at the end fluffs the pile back up over the seams.
